Our Christmas in July Lunch was filled with delicious food, festive cheer, laughter and a little friendly competition! Our Trivia Quiz had everyone scratching their heads—and celebrating when they got one right! 🎅🏆 Congratulations to our clever winners and thank you to everyone who joined in the fun!
22 members came by train or car to enjoy the July Train to Pub Lunch at the Middle Brighton Hotel.
A short stanza by one of our members captures the sentiment a great afternoon.

The July "Walkabout"
Our July walk was around the Kew area, and it followed part of the Old Outer Railway line and was a section of the of the Anniversary Trail.
Eleven ventured out to walk in the 1degree temperature - ten of our Members and one young grandson of Daryl's.
The walk is easy to follow and after our 35 minutes, the warmth and coffees at the Adeney Cafe was most welcome.
A point of interest along the way at the intersection of Harp Road and High Street is a very old tiny brick
building, which used to be the place where one went to buy Briquettes to burn in our fires long ago. On a previous walk, Geoff Lodge recounted the area on the present outside wall, where money would be inserted to get a pack of briquettes. You can see the building as the background to our Group Photo and the building is now part of a Coffee Cafe. On the return walk we all enjoyed showing how fit we were, at the Aged Get Fit Playground in Victoria Park.
A great social morning, so if you haven't joined one of the walks previously, look forward to highlighting the August date in your diary.
The Garden Appreciation Group enjoyed exploring Garden World with a guided tour by Samantha from the Collector's Corner. She shared information on a large variety of plants and the Mineral Collection. Lunch was enjoyed at the cafe.
A marvelous turn up at Our Little Secret for our Monthly Coffee and Chat despite a cold Winter's day.
Nine members met at the Amora hotel for Happy hour on Friday night. They were entertained by a solo singer/guitarist playing songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. There was lots of conversation interspersed with laughter, singing and even dancing! Just as well most came by tram. Lots of fun!!
Despite a cold Melbourne winter day, 13 members enjoyed a very pleasant lunch at the Arbory Bar & Eatery on Thursday June 18. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was excellent, the heating and the mulled wine ensured everyone remained comfortable throughout the afternoon. It was an enjoyable outing, with good company, good food, and a warm atmosphere despite the chilly weather.
Nine Camberwell Probus members enjoyed a visit to the State Library to learn about the library’s history. It is such an amazing building, much of it beautifully and recently renovated, and our guide did a great job, imparting so much interesting information. How fortunate we are to have such a magnificent educational asset in Melbourne.
On Sunday 7th June at The Round, the audience was completely captivated by the classic musical ‘42nd Street’. From the opening moments, it was clear we were in for a real treat.
The production transported us to the 1930s with its art deco styling, magnificent period costumes, and a talented cast of singers and dancers. The skilled tap performers impressed with both their dancing and vocal ability, while the orchestra added richness with the bass instruments. After three wonderful hours, we headed home smiling, singing, and still caught up in the magic of the theatre.
What a good way to spend a few hours on a cold winter morning by going to the Cinema and enjoying a light lunch with friends. We enjoyed 'A Private Life', but nobody was sure of 'Who did it'
An enthusiastic group of Probus members enjoyed an introduction to the new Metro Tunnel stations. Everyone was impressed with the ease of access and very clear signage, as well as the impressive very large new stations.

Our first Garden Appreciation group visited Olinda Monday 4th May. We enjoyed a trip around the Botanic Gardens in the Explorer Bus with excellent information from the driver. After a picnic morning tea, we visited Philip Johnson’s replica garden. Lunch was at Ferny Creek Bakehouse.
In spite of the very warm weather and holiday time an enthusiastic group started the year with a picnic in Wattle Park.
